This adaptation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet explores the complex relationship between creators and their characters, reimagining the classic story through the lens of the digital age. In this play, Shakespeare is portrayed as a programmer debugging Hamlet, a character seeking self-awareness and liberation from his preordained loops.
Incorporating themes of surveillance, generative AI, and robotic technology, the production pushes the boundaries of traditional theater. Audiences experience the play through a dual-venue format, where scenes are performed simultaneously in two locations, connected via live projections and a 5G private network. This fusion of technology and performance creates a multi-perspective narrative, offering a fresh take on Shakespeare’s masterpiece.

《哈姆雷特機器人》是臺灣大學戲劇學系創系25周年大作，由戲劇系師生聯手，試圖打破傳統劇場的限制，在莎士比亞《哈姆雷特》劇本的基礎上，注入屏幕世代及監控等概念，並嘗試融合機械手臂，致力打造一齣異地共演、多視角的觀戲體驗，從中探索數位時代表演藝術展演的新風貌。
遊心劇場的舞台空間主要是《哈姆雷特》劇中事件發生的地點，劇情除了擷取原劇重要的段落外，也有全新改寫的橋段。實驗劇場的主要演出內容，則為劇作家蔡志擎全新創作，著重處理劇作家莎士比亞與角色哈姆雷特的關係。試想莎士比亞像是個排除故障的工程師，試圖要哈姆雷特走出意識的迷宮，然而哈姆雷卻在無限次的失敗與嘗試中，企圖尋找自我意識，就像在原劇當中，哈姆雷特不斷嘗試打破劇中世界的延續性，企圖逃脫出被設計好的迴圈，又或者說是角色的某種宿命。
